A Girls' Dream Came True ...

I was born in Vienna ... with Italian roots. I lost my father as a child from eyes, he went back to his homeland. He was missing, was never there. Also to my civil wedding he was not there.

I have been looking for him in Italy - and found him again. The reunion after 20 years was familiar and yet so foreign.

My husband and I wanted after serious common years to renew our vows at a church wedding.
My dream was in white, on a black horse, in Italy and with my father (again found) who would lead me to the altar.
We planned our wedding in the gorgeous village of San Quirico d'Orcia, Middle Tuscany, with only the closest family and our two girls. But: 5 weeks before the big day, my father had a severe stroke. A wedding to celebrate at this time did not come to our mind. Deep sad and not knowing whether he would survive this, we had to make holiday in Tuscany, because there was no way to cancel without paying.

During our stay we realized that we could not give up this dream and after heavy months to recovery, a year later we booked everything again.

I wore a white dress, riding on a black stallion through the village to the church, where my family stood and cried, my father took me walking with his stick to the altar where my husband was waiting for me and we gave us the word YES again on the 9th wedding anniversary.

We spent a wonderful day in the closest circle of family - the rest of the holiday was just a bonus.
