The house at Macennere is spectacular - intentionally rustic, totally comfortable and charming . . . and we could have stayed forever. The driveway is a bit intimidating, but worth the trip. The grounds of the house are equally spectacular. We were content to spend the evenings at the house preparing dinners that included fresh produce from the gardens and fruit trees. The kitchen has everything we needed (including a pasta maker) and the wood burning outdoor grill worked wonders. Bedrooms are large and the beds very comfortable with plenty of privacy for our group of 3 couples, a single and 2 teens. The location in the hills was just what we wanted - - very much away from everything. I hope we will be able to return some day!!
Beautiful setting, rolling hills, miles of vineyards and olive trees. The villa is small but more than suitable for us, as a family of three. Plenty of space outside for our 2 year old to play. The swimming pool was in excellent condition, a good size and well looked after. Unfortunately for us as it was May and the weather was not good so we could not enjoy the pool as it was just too cold! Villa was clean and the owners/family were friendly and happy to help. Roberto, the daughter, spoke a little english. We wished we could have spoken Italian to learn more about the history of the vineyard etc. This holiday was one of our best, good food in local restaurants, easy location to travel from to get to the cities; Sienna and Florence. Would strongly recommend visiting Certaldo Alto (old town) - lovely, historical town.
We rented Podere Centone in Matraia for the month of May during which time a diverse range of friends visited. The villa lived upto the website images and the people, the village and the surrounding countryside exceeded our expectations in friendliness, beauty, variety, accessability and almost everything else. We found the owner to be both hospitable, flexible and accomodating. We would recommend this to anyone for a true, relaxing and enjoyable Tuscan experience.
We were in Poggiobello 4 weeks in May and it was wonderful stay. Excellent and cozy accommodation with very friendly attitude of owners Simonetta and Pepe. You can do many trips in the circle not more than 100 km (Firenze, Siena, Assisi, Orvieto, Perugia, Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino, ...). Excellent conditions for bicycling (not difficult routes) - 4 mountain bikes available free. Large pool close to the olive garden, quiet surroundings, relax. Visit vineyards of Villa Loggia and taste their delicious wines.
I hope that we will spend more weeks there in the future.
Fantastic house for our two families consisting of 8 adults. Great location for day tripping around Tuscany. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a clean house to rent and use as a base for visiting the countryside.
Villa Camporbiano is een schitterend gelegen villa met ruime speelmogelijkheden voor de kinderen,het bos en de grasvelden.
De woning is prima. Voor ons was het een grote teleurstelling dat het zwembad in tegenstelling tot wat er in de beschrijving staat niet geopend was. Zelf hadden we ook het idee dat wij de allereerste gasten van dit seizoen waren en dat dit goed aan de reiniging van de villa te zien was, vuil bestek en het sanitair was niet heel schoon (stoffig). De woning is verder prima bevallen.
[English translation courtesy of Easy Reserve] Villa Camporbiano is a beautifully situated villa with spacious playground for children, the woods and lawns. The house is fine. For us it was a great disappointment that the swimming pool, as opposed to what the description said, was still closed. We also had the idea that we were the first guests of this season and that this was visible from the cleaning of the villa was to be seen, dirty cutlery and the bathroom was not very clean (dusty). For the rest the house was just fine.
An amazing tower, with beautiful views especially when cooking in the wood oven. Well appointed kitchen and clean bathrooms. Owners were quick to attend to any issue that arose.
Great place to base yourself for a relaxing getaway (especially around the incredible pool), but a little far from major attractions if active holidays are more your thing.
Çasa Delle Antiche Rose was a great find. The owners were wonderful and the house was outstanding. The wisteria was blooming when we arrived and the fragrance was amazing! The roses were just starting to bloom too. We visited in late April, 2012 and the house was roomy, well maintained and well stocked. The owners even left us a wonderful "Welcome Basket" filled with goodies and wine to start our stay off well. We would love to come back again soon!
There is only one suggestion and that would be to post the GPS coordinates on the site. We took Pontassieve Sud instead of Pontassieve Est (toward Rome) and got lost, but the locals were helpful and once we found the villa....it was amazing. Also, Stefania is a great artist and has lovely paintings throughout the house.
This villa is great for families too. It has many rooms and bathrooms which was great for our family trip. We had 3 couples and our mom and everyone had their own room and bathroom, which is very hard to find in Europe. Our favorite past time was dining on the patio and enjoying our family in the gorgeous Tuscan outdoors.
We definitely recommend Casa Delle Antiche Rose and look forward to another visit soon.
This place was perfect for my family. We wanted a relaxing, country setting, and we got it!. The villa was very clean and nicely decorated. Owners Paulo and Christina were very nice, very helpful and spoke enough English that we could communicate. It is only a short walk down into town - and up all the way home - where there are many restaurants and bars with good food and drink. It is best to have a car if you want to see the spectacular surrounding area.
